The Zoom Out View is a powerful editing mode in the WordPress Site Editor that allows users to get a broader, high-level perspective of their page layout. It is designed to enhance usability and streamline the design workflow, especially when managing full-page layouts or working with multiple template parts.
Overview
Zoom Out View provides a condensed visual overview of the entire page structure, enabling users to quickly assess the hierarchy, placement, and design of individual sections without having to scroll through each block in detail.
This mode is particularly useful for:
Designers reviewing the page's visual flow.
Site administrators applying consistent section styles across multiple blocks.
Users managing complex templates with multiple content areas.
Key Features
Accessing Zoom Out View:
Toolbar Icon: The Zoom Out icon becomes available in the Preview tab once the Show Template option is enabled.
Keyboard Shortcut:
macOS: Shift + Command + 0
Windows: Shift + Ctrl + 0
The shortcut is also listed in the Keyboard Shortcuts reference menu.
Streamlined Design Decisions:
When in Zoom Out View, users can cycle through section styles and designs directly from the block toolbar.
This contextual editing enables quick experimentation and evaluation of how different design options affect the overall layout.
Enhanced Toolbar Options:
In Zoom Out mode, the block toolbar for sections offers a simplified set of actions:
Copy
Cut
Duplicate
Delete
These focused actions help maintain clarity and reduce clutter during layout adjustments.
Behavior Notes
The Zoom Out icon is only visible when Show Template is activated within the Preview tab.
This behavior ensures that Zoom Out mode aligns with template visibility, as it is primarily intended for structural and layout adjustments at the template level.
Users can seamlessly toggle between the standard editing view and Zoom Out view to apply global styling changes or inspect layouts from a bird’s-eye perspective.
Benefits
Provides a bird’s-eye view of the page design for better decision-making.
Improves productivity by enabling quick navigation and styling of page sections.
Reduces the need for manual scrolling and block-by-block inspection.
Facilitates consistency in section design across different parts of a page or template.

Reviewed. The article is concise and easy to follow.
As mentioned at the beginning of the issue, I think Site Editor would be a more appropriate category.
Minor suggestion
When editing a page section:
When editing a post while using a Full Site Editing theme, ...
→ When editing a page while using a block theme, ...
This would better match both the section heading and the current terminology.
